Alaska and its Ammo Dilemma

I have family living in Alaska and during our thanksgiving get together while discussing my ammo business, my uncle described some of his frustrations and ultimately the difficulty of acquiring ammunition in Alaska.  After hearing this I started digging into this more.  Currently residents of Alaska cannot purchase ammo online or ship ammo from online sales outside of Alaska without a costly freight forwarding services. Hoarding, gouging and supply shortages continue to plague Alaska.  Ammunition retailers are struggling to keep up not to mention those retailers in more remote locations.  Of major concern is the shortage of hunting ammunition, as major manufacturers focus on the high demand munitions like 9mm, 5.56 and .223 they are less likely to dedicate manufacturing to these less demanded hunting munitions.
